The Voronezh-Tschertowizkoje Airport ( IATA : VOZ , ICAO : UUOO , Russian Чертовицкое ) is the international passenger airport of the Russian city of Voronezh in Voronezh Oblast between Moscow and Rostov-on-Don . It serves as the base and turnstile for RusLine .

Location and transport links

Voronezh airport can be reached via the A134, which immediately afterwards joins the Russian trunk road M4 . Every five to fifteen minutes there are buses 27A, 120A and A70 in the direction of General-Perchorowitsch-Straße and Bolnitsa (hospital) "Elektronika". In addition, the shared taxis A3, A5 and A49 run about every half hour.

Several companies have settled on the site. There is also the airport hotel Aeroport-Plaza there.

The airport is located 18 kilometers north of Voronezh . The smaller town of Chertovitsy is also nearby . The runway is between the A134 and the M4. The Voronezh River is near Chertowizy ; on the opposite side of the river is the Voronezh Biosphere Reserve in the Central Black Earth Region with forest steppe .

history

At the end of the 1980s, Voronezh Airport was handling around 1.1 million passengers a year, compared to only around 405,000 passengers in 2014. Nevertheless, the number of passengers is rising again, as the number of passengers rose by 50,000 from 355,000 in 2013 to 405,000 in 2014.

In 2008 the renovation of the airport started. This also included the renewal of the runway , which was a problem because there was not enough space available. On one side was part of the Voronezh Biosphere Reserve and on the other side was part of an expressway. Ultimately, however, the runway was expanded to today's 2300 meters and the planes now fly relatively just over the road when taking off and landing. The fence, the rain and drainage system and the building were renewed. The technical requirements for landing the Boeing 737 or Airbus A320 aircraft have been in place since 2010, when most of the work was completed . The airport is to be expanded even further to increase capacity and service.
