Fomitiporella is a genus of fungus that has been separated from the fire sponges in the narrower sense ( Phellinus s. Str. ).
The type species is the umber brown fire sponge ( Fomitiporella umbrinella ).
features
The hymenophore of the wood dweller is spread out flat on the substrate, perennial, inseparable and stiff. The thin trama is colored brown. The layered tubes are also brown with age, usually thick-walled and with entire margins. The round or elliptical spores are smooth-walled and brown; Hyphae brown. Cystides are rarely present.
