history

The first community founded by Jean-Michel Rousseau in Poitiers ( France ) in 1974 operated under the name “Communaute Chrétienne de Formation” (German: Christian training community ). The married Rousseau followed the Charismatic Renewal in the Roman Catholic Church that began after the Second Vatican Council . The first group joined in 1980 committed lay people who felt connected to the Christian education of young people. With this expansion, a new international movement soon emerged, which found expression in the name “Fondacions pour un Monde Nouveau” (German: Foundation for a New World). In 1991 there was an internal dispute in the association, in the course of which the founder and some of his "followers" left the movement. After a period of reorientation, Gérard Testard took over the collegial management until 2013 and continued the original work. In 1995 the Bishop of Versailles Jean-Charles Thomas granted the Fondacio episcopal recognition, followed in 1996 by the Archbishop of Santiago de Chile Carlos Cardinal Oviedo Cavada OdeM and in 1998 by the Archbishop of Mechlin-Brussels Godfried Maria Jules Cardinal Danneels . In 2002 the association took on its current name and was recognized by the Pontifical Council for the Laity as an international association under papal law in 2008 . She is also a member of the Catholic Federation of Federal Charismatic Communities and Associations .

Self-image

Fondacio aligns its missionary work on the basis of the Gospel and has set itself five priorities, including the youth , couples and families , the elderly, people in charge in society - economy - health - education and politics and the fight against poverty . Their work is based on the words of the apostle James : "For as the body is dead without the spirit, so is faith also dead without works" ( Jak 2,26  EU ). The international movement aims at the humanization of people and society. She works in the spirit of the Gospel, the encounter in friendship with Christ and the mission. For this purpose, women and men meet regularly in small groups, they want to strengthen their goals in prayer and reflect on their own lives.

Organization and dissemination

Fondacio is headed by a President elected by the International Congress . The delegates of the countries take part in the world congress, which is convened every four years, at which the action programs and guidelines are determined. The International Council elected by the International Congress is responsible for implementing the programs and projects that have been decided. At the national level, the members elect a National Council, which chairs the pastoral assemblies and works closely with the International Council.

The association has about 3,000 members who are distributed in 20 countries worldwide, including Africa with 7, Asia with 4, Europe with 5, Middle East and North America with one and South America with 2 countries. Over 150,000 beneficiaries benefit from the organization.
