For The Love of God is an instrumental piece from 1990 composed by Steve Vai . It's on the Passion and Warfare album . For The Love of God was ranked 29th in Guitar World's Top 100 Guitar Solos .

The solo includes technically demanding techniques such as whammy bar tricks and two-hand tapping .

Versions

Vai performed For The Love of God with the Metropole Orchestra in the Netherlands in 2007 and received a Grammy Award for this version .

In 2009 he performed the piece in Minneapolis in the concert Where the Wild Things Are . This version was used as the theme music for the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock video game .
