The Ultra Zone is guitarist Steve Vai's sixth studio album . It was released in 1999 by Epic Records and is similar to the album Fire Garden . There are both instrumental and vocal songs on the album.

Trivia

Two guitarists are honored on the album. On the one hand Frank Zappa with the track Frank , on the other hand Stevie Ray Vaughan with the song Jibboom . The members of the Japanese band B'z Kōshi Inaba and Tak Matsumoto played on the song Asian Sky .

This was Vai's last studio album until 2005 when Real Illusions: Reflections was released. In between, Vai released both compilation albums and live albums .

The music website Allmusic awarded four stars out of five for the album. Allmusic critic Tom Schulte rated the album as an incredible representation of 6-string talent .

The album peaked at number 121 on the Billboard 200 in 1999.
