The Story of Light is the eighth studio album by American rock guitarist Steve Vai . It was on 14 August 2012, Vais label Favored Nations published. It was Vai's first full studio album since Real Illusions: Reflections (2005). On May 23, 2012 it was possible to pre-order the album with an instant download of the song Gravity Storm . The Moon and I was released on VaiTunes in 2010 , but was also released as a remix on the album. The album peaked at number 78 on the Billboard 200 .

After Real Illusions: Reflections, The Story of Light is the second part of the Real Illusions trilogy , which is based on an exaggerated, advice-seeking maniac who views the world from his distorted feelings.
