Real Illusions: Reflections is the seventh studio album by American rock guitarist Steve Vai and was released on February 22, 2005 under the Epic label . Real Illusions: Reflections is the first part of the Real Illusions trilogy , which is based on an exaggerated, advice-seeking maniac who looks at the world from his distorted feelings. The second part appeared in 2012 under the title The Story of Light .

The live version of the song Lotus Feet during the Aching Hunger Tour 2004 was nominated for a Grammy in 2006 in the category Best Instrumental Rock Performance . The music website Allmusic rated the album 4 out of 5 stars.

According to Vai, the song Freak Show Excess was inspired by Bulgarian wedding music .
