Flex-Able is guitarist Steve Vai's first studio album . It was originally released in 1984 on Urantia Records, a new edition in 1988 under Akashic and 1998 under Epic Records .

After Vai stopped touring with Frank Zappa , he saved $ 14,000 to buy a small house in Sylmar , California and, with the help of Zappa, set up a studio with recording equipment. From April to November 1983 Vai recorded the album in the self-built Stucco Blue Studio .
He told Vai in the 2009 Guitar World interview that the album had sold over 400,000 copies in the US and that he made millions of dollars on the album.

The album was released on CD in 1988 under the Akashic Records label with four bonus tracks from the Flex-Able Leftovers EP . In 1998 another new edition of the album was released under the label Epic Records . Furthermore, a version of the original version was released in 1992 under the label Curcio Records in Italy.
