Research focus on right-wing extremism / neo-Nazism ( FORENA ), formerly the Neo-Nazism department is a research facility at the University of Düsseldorf . It was founded in 1987 by Christiane Rajewsky . In 1994 the Ministry of Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia recognized the institution as a “research focus on right-wing extremism and neo-Nazism ”.
Goals and Profile
According to its own statement, the aim of the institution is " to strengthen the commitment to sustainable democratic and civil society structures on the basis of critical scientific analyzes of the extreme right as well as manifestations and theories of inequality / inequality ". It will u. a. Social workers and educators trained and informed about so-called everyday racism and organized forms of right-wing extremism. The autonomous nationalists and right-wing populism take up further research .
The research institute Forena has been the publisher of the “Right-Wing Extremism Edition” in Springer VS since 2011 .

FORENA young talent award
In addition, since 2012 the institution has been awarding the FORENA Young Scientists Prize, which was founded in 2011 and endowed with 1000 euros (1st prize) and 500 euros (2nd prize), to young scientists who deal with “ folk nationalism , the extreme right, and group-related Misanthropy or right-wing populism ”. The jury includes the scientists Fabian Virchow , Renate Bitzan , Gideon Botsch , Oliver Decker and Wolfgang Gessenharter .
