Forshaga is a locality ( tätort ) in the Swedish province County of Värmland and capital of the homonymous municipality . The place is located on the Klarälven river about 20 km north of its confluence with Lake Vänern .
It's a relatively modern settlement that grew up with the industrial revolution due to a paper mill located here. There are few old buildings. The local church was only consecrated on March 20, 1921. The construction of a railway line between Hagfors and Skoghall was also advantageous for development. Today it no longer exists and the former track bed is used as a cycling and hiking trail.
Despite its proximity to the city of Karlstad , the range of services on offer is quite diverse. There are several shops, health facilities and restaurants as well as a hotel and a youth hostel . The latter is located in the so-called castle. Forshaga has specialized in anglers for tourism .
