Sten Tolgfors ( pronunciation : [ ˌsteːn ˈtɔlːʝfɔʂ ], born July 17, 1966 in Forshaga ) is a Swedish politician of the Moderate Collection Party .

Life

After attending Oakcrest High School (USA) and Karlberg School in Åmål , Tolgfors studied political science at Örebro University .

Sten Tolgfors was from 1990 to 1995 board member of the youth organization of the Moderate Party. During this time, from 1991 to 1994, he was also involved in local politics as a member of the municipal council of Örebro . From 1991 to 1994 he worked as a consultant in the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. In 1994 he became a member of the Swedish parliament , of which he is still a member. In 2002 he became a member of the Executive Committee of the Collection Party. From 2002 to 2003 he was spokesman for his party on social security issues and from 2003 to 2006 on educational policy issues . In 2006 he became Minister of Foreign Trade and, since 2007, succeeded Mikael Odenberg's Defense Minister in Sweden.

He resigned on March 29, 2012 after Sveriges Radio revealed the involvement of the Ministry's research institute FOI in plans to build an arms factory in Saudi Arabia .
