Hillevi Engström
Hillevi Maria Engström , née Pettersson (born April 15, 1963 in Sollentuna , Stockholm County ) is a Swedish politician and former minister.

Engström was born on April 15, 1963 as Hillevi Maria Pettersson. In addition to her sister, the journalist Karin Hübinette , she has two brothers. She studied law, social sciences and education at Stockholm University and Örebro University . In 1983 she also successfully completed the police school and worked as a criminal investigator until 1996. From 1993 she was also active in Polisförbundet , the Swedish police union. In 1996 she was the first woman to be elected ombudswoman of the Polisförbundet and held this post until 2002.
In 1998 Engström was elected to the city council of her home community Sollentuna for the Moderata samlingspartiet . She held this office until she was appointed minister in 2010. In 2002 Hillevi Engström was elected to the Swedish parliament. There she took a seat in various commissions. From 2009 Engström was also the moderator's spokesperson in the area of gender equality. After the election to the Swedish Reichstag in 2010 and the replacement of various ministerial posts, Hillevi Engström was appointed as the new labor minister in the Fredrik Reinfeldt government. After the resignation of the Minister for International Development Cooperation Gunilla Carlsson on September 17, 2013, Engström took over this post with immediate effect. Her successor as Minister of Labor was Elisabeth Svantesson . After the 2014 elections, the Reinfeldt government resigned. Engström was again an active member of the Reichstag until January 19, 2015.
