Tobias Lennart Billström (born December 27, 1973 in Malmö ) is a Swedish politician of the Moderata samlingspartiet (German: The Moderates ) and was Minister for Asylum and Migration Issues in the Fredrik Reinfeldt government from October 6, 2006 to September 29, 2014 .

Tobias Lennart Billström was born in 1973 in the Skåne city ​​of Malmö. In 2000 he obtained a bachelor's degree in history, political science, modern international history and Eastern and Central European studies at Lund University . In 2002 he obtained a Masters in History from Lund University and a Masters of Philosophy in History from Cambridge University .

From 1993 to 1998 Billström was a member of the local board of the Moderata ungdomsförbundet , the youth organization of the Moderata samlingspartiet. From 1998 to 2002 he was a member of the Malmö City Council and Vice-Chairman of the Education Committee in Malmö. In 2001 he was also the political editor of Nordvästra Skånes tidningar . In 2002 he was elected to the Swedish Parliament, where he was a member of the Social Affairs Committee until 2006. From 2005 to 2006 Billström was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Migration Agency.

After the 2006 elections and Allianz's election victory for Sweden , Tobias Billström was appointed Minister for Asylum and Migration Affairs by the new Prime Minister, Fredrik Reinfeldt . From June 2010 until after the elections in October he also led the Labor Ministry ad interim as Minister of Labor until Hillevi Engström took over the office.

Tobias Billström is married and has two children.
