Maria Elisabet Wallgren Arnholm (born March 16, 1958 in Partille , Gothenburg ) is a Swedish politician of the Liberals party .

Maria Elisabet Arnholm was born on March 16, 1958 in Partille, a municipality bordering Gothenburg. She studied law at Stockholm University and between 1977 and 2006 she was a member of the management and board of directors of various liberal organizations and media companies.

Between 1983 and 1991 Arnholm was the political secretary of the party leadership of the Liberal People's Party and, among other things, assistant to the Reichstag member Bengt Westerberg . From 1985 to 1988 she was a substitute member of the Swedish parliament . From 1991 to 1994 she was Chief of Staff of Bengt Westerberg, who has meanwhile risen to Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Social Affairs. From 1994 she was chief advisor to various companies such as the Swedish Management Group (1996–98) and Nextwork (1998–2000) and from 2002 to 2006 she was head of communications at Coop Sverige and Coop Norden . From 2006 to 2012 Arnholm was Vice Director of the PR and communications company Springtime . In 2012 Arnholm became State Secretary in the Department of Education and, following the resignation of the Minister for Gender Equality Nyamko Sabuni in early 2013, was appointed her successor in the Fredrik Reinfeldt government. Her term of office lasted until the election in 2014.
