Udo Baron

Udo Baron (born December 1, 1963 in Bremen ) is a German historian , political scientist and extremism researcher .

Life

Udo Baron studied modern history, German and political science at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster from 1986 . After his master's thesis on the military ideology of the National People's Army of the GDR , he was a research associate 1992-1998 for dealing with the Study of the SED dictatorship employing commissions of inquiry of the German Parliament. During this time, he trained to become a certified public relations consultant.

From 2000 he was a research associate of the SED State Research Association at the Free University of Berlin , where he researched the SED's work in the West , party history and political extremism . In 2002 he was at the TU Chemnitz with the work Influence of the SED and its West German allies on the party "The Greens" in the "fight for peace" with Eckhard Jesse to the Dr. phil. PhD.

From November 2005 to October 2007 he worked at the Potsdam Center for Contemporary History as a research assistant for the Death Victims on the Berlin Wall project . He is one of the authors of the biographical handbook on "The Death Victims of the Berlin Wall 1961–1989". He then became a consultant for left-wing extremism in Department 5 (Protection of the Constitution) of the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior and Sport.

Baron is the author of numerous articles for various publications, including a. for the yearbook for extremism and terrorism research , the Germany archive , the criminal police and the political opinion . At the same time he leads lectures and seminars for various educational institutions, u. a. the KAS , through.
