The Forum Allmende ( proper spelling FORUM ALLMENDE ) is a literary society based in Lörrach .

history

The registered association Forum Allmende was founded in 1998 in Konstanz by literary workers and those interested in literature in order to animate literary and intellectual life in the Alemannic- speaking area. The society has around 100 members, among others from Switzerland, France and Austria, including the writers Armin Ayren , Hermann Bausinger , Horst Brandstätter , Jochen Greven , Hermann Kinder , Ulrich Ott , Uwe Pörksen , Peter Salomon , Matthias Spranger and Monika Taubitz and is in turn, member of the Association of Literary Societies and Memorials e. V. (ALG). The annual general meetings take place in literarily remarkable locations in the region with a corresponding accompanying program.

aims

According to the statutes, its goals include the publication of books, the implementation of literary events, the cooperation with institutions and associations with the same or comparable objectives, the research, processing and presentation of literary-cultural topics of regional importance as well as statements on current cultural-political developments. Cross-border cooperation in Alsace, German-speaking Switzerland and Vorarlberg is important to the company.

Since 2004 the "Freundeskreis Jacob Picard" has been integrated as a working group in the Forum Allmende. He tries to maintain the work of Jacob Picard (1883–1967), the poet of Alemannic Judaism from Wangen am See . In 2005/06 he carried out the Picard reading series through 15 towns and communities and in 2007 opened a Jacob Picard memorial in the Old Town Hall in Wangen am See.

activities

Forum Allmende works closely with the Hermann-Hesse- Höri-Museum in Gaienhofen and has held an annual literary exhibition there since 2005. So far, these have applied to the author Bruno Epple (2005), the “Bodenseebuch” (2006) published between 1914 and 1964, the Konstanz journal UNIVERS (2007) and the author and multiple stimulator Horst Brandstätter (2008). Forum Allmende publishes an accompanying booklet for each of these exhibitions (until 2007 the “Replik” series, since then “Portrait”).

Previous projects include readings, literary excursions, literary cafés, book presentations and the “tagumtag” weblog. In addition, there are cross-border projects such as the Regio-Online-Schreibwerkstatt in 2006 and the EU project “LiteraTour in Library 2.0” in 2008/2009. Publications by Forum Allmende also appear in the “Forum Allmende series”.
