François Hilarion Point

François Hilarion Point (born April 14, 1759 in Montélimar , Département Drôme , † December 24, 1798 in Popoli , Province of Pescara ) was a French general de brigade of the infantry .

Live and act

On April 1, 1779, Point joined the royal forces. He served under Jean-Baptiste Dubarry in the Régiment Royal-Champagne Cavalerie . He was soon able to distinguish himself through bravery and his career led him from Maréchal des logis (September 11, 1784), Adjutant (January 1, 1789) to Capitaine (July 1, 1792).

During the reign of terror of the Revolution , Point was promoted to Général de brigade. Later he was on the staff of General Jean-Étienne Championnet and fought under General Louis Lemoine at Popoli. In this battle Point was one of the first to be killed. He found his final resting place in a mass grave on the edge of the battlefield.
