François Remetter
François Remetter (born August 8, 1928 in Strasbourg ) is a former French football player .
The club career
As a teenager, Remetter played in the storm before he became a successful goalkeeper and won his first title in 1947: he became world champion of the military teams with the French selection. As he quickly moved up to the French amateur national team, a professional club, FC Metz , became interested in the young Alsatian . He helped Metz to an immediate promotion to the top division ( Division 1 ), where he then also played at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard . He played in the second division for FC Grenoble and Girondins Bordeaux - although he was already a national goalkeeper and a World Cup participant. Between 1957 and 1960 François Remetter changed clubs annually before returning to his hometown and playing for Racing Strasbourg for four years . Then the “crazy genius” , as his coach in Metz had dubbed him, was drawn to Limoges again before he let his career end with Vauban Strasbourg and ended his career at the age of almost 40. France Football put him at number 10 on the list of all-time French goalkeepers in October 2006.
