François d'Amboise

François d'Amboise (* 1550 in Paris , † 1619 in Paris) was a French writer . He was the son of Jean d'Amboise and the brother of Adrien d'Amboise , Bishop of Tréguier , and Jacques d'Amboise , Rector of the University of Paris . He was Conseiller at the Parlement of Brittany and General Counsel at the Grand Conseil.

He studied rhetoric and philosophy at the Collège de Navarre . In 1568 he taught philosophy at the college himself. In the same year he wrote an Élégie sur le trépas d ' Anne de Montmorency . In August 1572 he accompanied the Duke of Anjou and later King of France Henry III. for the king's election to Poland. The playwright Pierre de Larivey , his friend, and his cousin Louis de Clermont, seigneur de Bussy d'Amboise also took part in the trip.

In 1575 he became Procureur de la nation (national prosecutor), in 1581 the king's lawyer at the Chambre du trésor , in 1586 avocat général and grand conseil of the king. 1589 he was by Heinrich III. made a knight.

1596 King named him Henry IV. To Maître Legal Adviser , and 1604 for Conseiller d'Etat (Council of State).

François d'Amboise was lord of Vezeul , Bourot , Neuillé-le Lierre , Brouard , Lespinière , La Huardière in the Touraine , Houvoy , Malnoue , Courserin , Plessis-Bourré , Hémery and baron of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir .

He was friends with Robert Garnier , Pierre Matthieu and Gilles Bourdin , where he met the dramatists Guillaume-Gabriel Le Breton , Odet de Turnèbe and Pierre de Larivey .

Among other things, he wrote a comedy in verse, Néapolitaines (1584), and some poems, and in 1616 published the works of Petrus Abelardus .

His son was Antoine d'Amboise , lord of Clos Lucé , colonel in the Amboise regiment and field marshal .

François d'Amboise was buried in the church of Saint-Paul-et-Saint-Louis in the Marais.

He is not a member of the House of Amboise .
