François de Metz

François de Metz († March 7, 1444 in Geneva ) was a cardinal and bishop of Geneva .

Life

François came from the Emmion family, which was owned by the Metz dominion north of Annecy . He became a Benedictine monk , prior of Talloires and abbot of Sainte-Claude . Between 1426 and 1428 and from 1443 he headed the papal chancellery. Pope Martin V appointed him bishop of Geneva in 1426. He took off in 1431 at the Council of Basel in part and was at the election of Pope Felix V. involved. Felix appointed him pseudocardinal of San Marcello in 1440 .
