Francesca De Martin (born April 30, 1961 in Vittorio Veneto , Italy ; † December 23, 2009 in Bremen ) was a German-Italian cabaret artist, playwright, theater director and actress, who mainly worked in Germany.

Life

At the age of 19, Francesca De Martin came to Germany to play street theater . In Hamburg she was a co-founder of a tent theater called Fliegende Bauten ; later she moved to Bremen, where she lived with the Chilean actor and colleague Alvaro Solar.

Her Italian roots remained visible in her work. De Martin staged plays by Dario Fo in Bremen and worked not only with the Italian honorary consulate on Sielwall , but also with German-Italian companies throughout northern Germany. In her own pieces, too, the Italian mentality and culture were always an issue. She staged the solo pieces for her husband herself; The main venue was the Bremen Shakespeare Company . De Martin was considered spirited and quick-witted on stage. Most recently she was on stage with the program Lappen away next to the cabaret artists Jutta and Gerburg Jahnke and Andrea Bongers .

Francesca De Martin died in 2009 at the age of 48 after a serious illness. A funeral service for her took place on January 1, 2010 at the Riensberg cemetery in Bremen.
