Career

In the club

Bardi started his career in the youth department of AS Livorno before joining the Inter Milan Primavera team in 2011 . With this he won the prestigious Torneo di Viareggio a few months later and was also voted the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

For the 2011/12 season, Bardi moved back to AS Livorno on loan, where he was used in 34 of 42 Serie B games. He also ran for the first time in the Coppa Italia . In June 2012, Inter acquired the full transfer rights to Bardi, which until then had been held by both the Milanese and Livorno. Shortly thereafter, the goalkeeper was loaned to Novara Calcio for the 2012/13 season. Novara reached fifth place in the table with Bardi as regular goalkeeper, but failed in the promotion play-offs at FC Empoli . In July 2013, Bardi extended his contract with Inter until June 30, 2017, but was loaned to his youth club Livorno, which had previously fixed promotion to Serie A.

In the national team

Francesco Bardi played for various youth national teams in Italy. In 2009 he took part as a substitute goalkeeper in both the U-17 European Championship and the U-17 World Championship . He made his debut for his country's U-21 team on March 24, 2011 against Sweden . At the U-21 European Championships in Israel in 2013 , he and his team finished second after being beaten 4-2 in Spain in the final . Bardi was voted into the 23-player All-Star selection after the tournament .
