Francesco Zerrillo (born April 23, 1931 in Reino , Benevento Province , Italy ) is Bishop Emeritus of Lucera-Troia .

Life

Francesco Zerrillo was ordained a priest on April 9, 1955 . Then he was until 1977 spiritual of the seminary of Benevento .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Tricarico on December 7, 1985 . He received his episcopal ordination on January 25, 1986, by the Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops , Cardinal Bernardin Gantin ; Co- consecrators were Carlo Minchiatti , Archbishop of Benevento, and Carmelo Cassati MSC , Bishop Emeritus of Lucera.

He was appointed Bishop of Lucera-Troy on February 15, 1997, and was introduced to the office on April 5 of the same year.

On June 30, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI. He accepted his resignation due to age reasons and appointed him apostolic administrator of the diocese until the solemn inauguration ( enthronement ) of his successor, Domenico Cornacchia , on October 14 of the same year .

He is Prior of the Commandery Lucera-Troia of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem . Zerrillo was also secretary of the Italian Bishops' Conference .
