Francisco Beckmann

Francisco Beckmann CM (born July 23, 1883 in Enschede , Netherlands ; † October 30, 1963 ) was a Dutch clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Panama .

Life

He was born in Enschede as the son of Franz Heinrich Beckmann and Johanna, geb. Greve, born and given the name Frans ("Francisco") Frederik.

Francisco Beckmann joined the Lazaristenorden and received on 13 July 1913, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on May 25, 1940 titular bishop of Telmissus and auxiliary bishop in Panama . The Archbishop of Panama, Juan José Maíztegui y Besoitaiturria CMF , donated him episcopal ordination on July 7th of the same year ; Co-consecrators were José María Preciado y Nieva CMF, Vicar Apostolic of Darién , and Johann Paul Odendahl Metz CM, Vicar Apostolic of Limón .

On June 13, 1945, Pope Pius XII appointed him. to the Archbishop of Panama.

He participated in the first two sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father. Francisco Beckmann died of a heart attack during the Council deliberations in Rome.
