Tomás Alberto Clavel Méndez

Tomás Alberto Clavel Méndez (born December 21, 1921 in Cañazas , Veraguas Province , † October 13, 1988 ) was a Panamanian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Panama .

Life

Tomás Alberto Clavel Méndez was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Panama on December 7, 1947 .

Pope Pius XII appointed him Bishop of David on July 24, 1955 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Panama , Archbishop Paul Bernier , donated him episcopal ordination on September 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Francisco Beckmann CM , Archbishop of Panama, and Luis Pérez Hernández CIM , Auxiliary Bishop in Bogotá .

On March 3, 1964, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the Archbishop of Panama.

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

On October 18, 1968, Pope Paul VI. resigned and appointed him titular archbishop pro hac vice of Alexanum . On February 21, 1978, he renounced the titular seat due to the changed allocation guidelines.
