Marcos Gregorio McGrath CSC (born February 10, 1924 in Panama City , † August 4, 2000 ) was a Panamanian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Panama .

Life

Marcos Gregorio McGrath joined the Congregation of the Holy Cross and was ordained a priest on June 11, 1949 .

Pope John XXIII appointed him on August 8, 1961 titular bishop of Caeciri and auxiliary bishop in Panama . He was ordained bishop by the Archbishop of Panama, Francisco Beckmann CMF , on October 8 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Alfredo Francesco Mendez Gonzalez CSC, Bishop of Arecibo , and Jesús Serrano Pastor CMF , Vicar Apostolic of Darién .

On March 3, 1964, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the first bishop of Santiago de Veraguas .

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

Pope Paul VI appointed him Archbishop of Panama on February 5, 1969. On April 18, 1994, Pope John Paul II accepted his health-related resignation.
