Francisco Corzas Chavez
Francisco Corzas Chávez (born October 4, 1936 in Mexico City , † September 15, 1983 ibid) was a Mexican painter and lithographer .
Life
Corza's parents came from the city of Quecholac / Puebla and were already living in Mexico City when he was born. From 1951 to 1955 he studied painting at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado “La Esmeralda” in his hometown and then fresco and nude painting in Italy for three years . In Europe he was strongly influenced by the local art movements of the different epochs. In 1958 he won the International Prize of the Art Festival of Via Margutta in Rome and gained international fame. His first solo exhibition took place in the Galleria Trentadue in Milan . He also took part in various group exhibitions.
In 1973 he painted some oil paintings for the Vatican , as well as some lithographs , including in the Grafiche Caprini in Rome and in the Milanese Grafiche di Upiglio . In 1967 he met his longtime partner Bianca Dall'Occa Orsi . Before returning to Mexico, he worked in a lithography studio in New York . In 1962 he received a special mention from the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana and initially exhibited in the Galería Misrachi . As a scholarship holder of the French government, he went to Paris for a year . In 1976 he received a grant from the Mexican Fundación Cultural Televisa . Corza took part in a total of 43 group exhibitions around the world. He was also a member of the Los Interioristas group .
