Franco Gallo (born October 11, 1944 in Sesto San Giovanni ; † December 9, 2016 in Merano ) was an Italian ice hockey player who became Italian champion with HC Bozen in 1973 and took part in several world championships. His son Massimiliano Gallo was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Franco Gallo came from Lombardy , but emigrated with his family to Canada as a child , where he began to play ice hockey. At the age of 22 he returned to Italy and joined HC Diavoli Milano , for which he played in Serie A1 . With the Milanese he won the Italian runner-up in 1968. In 1972 he moved to HC Bozen , with whom he became Italian champion in 1973 . With 21 goals in 22 games, he made a significant contribution to Bolzano's first title win in ten years. In the following three years he and the team from South Tyrol were three times runner-up. He later played for HC Merano in the top Italian league.

International

For Italy , Gallo took part in the B World Championships in 1969 , 1971 and 1973 and in the C World Championships in 1970 and 1972 .
