Franco Lucentini (born December 24, 1920 in Rome , † August 5, 2002 in Turin ) was an Italian writer, translator (among others by Alain Robbe-Grillet ) and publicist.

Together with Carlo Fruttero he formed the author duo Fruttero & Lucentini , also known as "The Company". The two had met in Paris in the early 1950s, where Lucentini had moved as an opponent of Italian fascism after the end of his imprisonment. He worked there as a translator, Fruttero as an editor. In 1972 they published their first jointly written novel, Die Sonntagsfrau , which was followed by numerous other crime and social novels that have been translated into many languages.

For his life's work, Lucentini received the Premio Campiello in Venice in 2000 . Together they received the Ennio Flaiano Prize in 1989 and the Hemingway Prize in 1990.

At the age of 81, Lucentini, who had lung cancer, died in a fall from the stairs of his house in Turin. It is believed that the fall was suicidal.
