Frank M. Bischoff

Frank Michael Bischoff (born June 25, 1959 in Altenkirchen ), Frank M. Bischoff for short , is a German archivist and historian . He has been President of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Archives since 2013 .

Life

Bischoff studied history, education and evangelical theology in Mainz and Marburg . After completing his doctorate at the University of Marburg, he worked at the German Historical Institute in Rome from 1993 to 1994 . He then completed the archival preparatory service at the archive school in Marburg as a trainee lawyer for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia from 1994 to 1996 . After passing the exam, he began his archival career at the Münster State Archives in 1996 . In 2003 he became head of the Marburg Archive School. Six years later, on July 1, 2009, he moved to Düsseldorf to the State Archives North Rhine-Westphalia Rhineland Departmentto take over the management there. On September 24, 2013, Bischoff was appointed President of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Archives in Düsseldorf. With the relocation of the state archive to Duisburg , its office was also relocated there.

Frank M. Bischoff is chairman of the Society for Rhenish History . He has been a member of the Historical Commission for Hesse since 2003 and of the Historical Commission for Westphalia since April 2018 .
