Frank Benedict Vischer (born September 11, 1923 - † June 25, 2015 ) was a Swiss legal scholar .

Vischer studied law at the Universities of Basel and Geneva . During this time he joined the Swiss Zofinger Association . He received his doctorate in 1946 under Max Gerwig in Basel and was admitted to the bar in the canton of Basel-Stadt in 1948 . In 1953 Vischer received his habilitation at the University of Basel and in 1956 was appointed associate professor. From 1964 until his retirement in 1993 he was a full professor of private law , international private law and labor law . He was dean in 1968, 1978 and 1988of the law faculty and 1979/80 rector of the University of Basel. From 1993 to 1997 Vischer presided over the European Institute in Basel .

He was an honorary doctor of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In 1992 he was elected a corresponding member of the British Academy . The politician Daniel Vischer was his son.

Frank Vischer was the namesake of the Vischer law firm .
