history

Frankfurt brewery

Beer has been brewed in the old trading town on the Oder since the early Middle Ages, but most recently (1950s to 1980s) only non-alcoholic drinks and beers from Berlin breweries were bottled. That only changed in 1988 with the completion of the Oderland Brewery , the main company in the VEB Beverage Combine in Frankfurt / Oder. After the liquidation of the beverage combine, the company was sold in 1991 to the Dortmunder Brau und Brunnen AG, which set up its production facility for Schultheiss here. Investments were made in the Frankfurt company, which specialized in bottom-fermented beer brewing and filling cans and bottles . Around the 750th anniversary of the city in 2003 , plans became known that Brau und Brunnen would close the Frankfurt (Oder) location due to a lack of can sales. Two East German entrepreneurs then took over the brewery, making it the first of four large breweries to belong to TCB Beteiligungsgesellschaft .

Brands

The brewery mainly brews beers as private labels of German discounters and other trading companies . Own brands are Spitzkrug (after the Frankfurt district where the brewery is located), Pilsator and as a regional brand Frankfurter . The latter was marked for several years with "brewed in Frankfurt (Oder)" (now: "brewed in the Kleiststadt ") in order to avoid confusion with Frankfurt am Main .

Awards

Both the company (e.g. Brandenburg Future Prize 2011; Bundesehrenpreis 2017) and its products (e.g. golden DLG medals ) have received multiple awards.

Brewery of the same name

A Frankfurt brewery had been producing in Hanauer Landstrasse in Frankfurt am Main since the beginning of the 20th century . This brewery closed in 1987 and has no relationship with the brewery described here.
