Franz-Josef Möllers

Franz-Josef Möllers (born June 28, 1946 in Hörstel -Riesenbeck) is a German farmer and was President of the Westphalian-Lippian Agricultural Association from 1997 to 2012 . He was Vice President of the German Farmers' Association (2006–2012) and headed the main commodity cooperative Agravis (RCG) from 1993 to 2012 and the WL-Bank in Münster from 1979 to 2012 as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Möllers is an agricultural master and a state-certified farmer. He and his son Johannes run a joint farm ( arable farming , pig fattening ) on a full-time basis.

Life

Möllers took on voluntary activities early on: from 1972 to 1976 he was chairman of the ring of rural youth in Westphalia-Lippe and from 1979 to 1994 a member of the district council in the Steinfurt district . 1987–2006 he was chairman of the agricultural district association Steinfurt in the WLV.

In 1997 Möllers was elected President of the Westphalian-Lippian Agricultural Association and was in office until 2012. Today he is honorary president of the WLV . From 2006 to 2012 he also held the office of Vice President of the German Farmers' Association (DBV) in Berlin. As "Veredlungspräsident" Möllers was chairman of the permanent committee for the pig sector ( EU Commission ) and of the Federal Market Association for Cattle and Meat. From 2003 to 2012 he was also chairman of the QS advisory board for the pig sector. In 2013 he was appointed special ambassador for the QS scheme. From 1997 to 2012 Möllers was a member of the main committee of the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Agriculture , and from 1998 to 2011 Vice President of the German Raiffeisen Association .

The main commodity cooperative Agravis (RCG) led Möllers as chairman of the supervisory board from 1993 to 2012. He also chaired the supervisory boards of the two agricultural publishers DBV in Berlin and Landwirtschaftsverlag (LV) in Münster (2006–2015 and 2001–2018). At the subsidiaries of the Landwirtschaftsverlag, the EGE in Berlin and the DMM in Münster / Hamburg, he still chairs the supervisory board.

Möllers was a member from 1987 and chairman of the management of the Westphalian Landscape Foundation in Münster from 1996 to 2012. From 2012 to 2017 he was chairman of the board of trustees of the foundation of the Landwirtschaftsverlag in Münster, from 2005 to 2012 chairman of the foundation cultural landscape - WLV. Möllers is the founder of the agricultural culture award.

In addition to his agricultural commitment, Möllers also held a number of functions in the banking sector: from 1979 to 2012 he was chairman of the supervisory board of WL-Bank in Münster, from 2001 to 2012 a member of the supervisory board of WGZ in Düsseldorf and a member of the board of directors of Landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank in Frankfurt.

Möllers was twice a member of the Federal Assembly for the election of the Federal President .

honors and awards

Möllers received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 2018 . He was also awarded the DBV medal in gold, the WLV medal in gold, the Chamber of Agriculture / NRW medal in gold and the double head in gold from Raiffeisen / Schulze-Delitzsch.

Private

Franz-Josef Möllers is married. The marriage resulted in 3 children.
