The Westfälisch-Lippische Landwirtschaftsverband eV (WLV for short) is a free association of farmers and foresters in Westphalia and Lippe . He represents the interests of the members in all matters towards politics, business and authorities. In addition to improving the economic situation, the goals also include improving living conditions in rural areas. According to the association, almost 100% of all farmers and foresters in the region are organized in the Westphalian-Lippian Agricultural Association. The headquarters of the Agricultural Association is in Münster on Schorlemerstraße , named after Burghard Freiherr von Schorlemer-Alst , the first president of the predecessor organization Westphalian Farmers' Association .

history

A boulder in front of the Wettringen town hall commemorates the founding of the local farmers' association in 1862.

The Westphalian-Lippian Agricultural Association emerged after the Second World War from the Westphalian Farmers 'Association of 1871. It was the first merger of the local farmers' associations. The first farmers' association was founded on June 10, 1862 in Wettringen by Burghard Freiherr von Schorlemer Alst and 36 other farmers. A boulder in front of the Wettringen town hall still reminds of the foundation. The roots of the Westphalian-Lippian Agricultural Association are based on the oldest free agricultural professional organization in the German Empire . It has existed in its current form since 1947.

structure

With its responsibility for the Westphalia-Lippe region and division into 20 district associations, the catchment area of the WLV corresponds exactly to the area of responsibility of the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Association , with which it works closely in the context of its tasks.

The management of the association is divided into four hierarchical levels. The regional association day as the body of all members elects the regional association committee. The board of the Westphalian-Lippian Agricultural Association emerges from the committee as the second highest hierarchy and is chaired by the president.

The Westfälisch-Lippische Landfrauenverband eV also indirectly belongs to the Westphalian-Lippian Agricultural Association. V. (WLLV), the Westfälisch-Lippische Landjugend eV (WLL), the Ring der Landjugend Westfalen-Lippe e. V. and the employers' association of Westphalian-Lippian agriculture and forestry e. V. (WLAV).
