The WL Bank AG Westphalian Landscape Bodenkreditbank (proper spelling WL BANK ) was a Pfandbriefbank in the cooperative financial group cooperative banks based in the Westphalian Münster . She acted as a contact within the group for real estate financing and for public customers.

From its headquarters in Münster, the representative offices in Berlin , Düsseldorf , Hamburg and Munich as well as the sales offices in Frankfurt am Main , Heidelberg and Schwäbisch Gmünd , WL Bank looked after a customer base of Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks, investors, municipalities and municipal companies.

At the end of July 2018, WL Bank was merged with DG HYP to form DZ Hyp AG .

history

In 1877 the Pfandbrief Institute was founded under the name Westphalian Landscape by Westphalian farmers from the then farmers' association. This institute was supposed to grant the Westphalian farmers cheap real estate loans on a non-profit basis. The regional focus of activity was in Westphalia-Lippe and the Lower Rhine . Burghard Freiherr von Schorlemer-Alst , the founder of the Westphalian Farmers' Association, played a decisive role in the establishment of the institute . He saw the foundation as absolutely necessary in order to avoid a credit problem in Westphalia . Kaiser Wilhelm I confirmed the deed of foundation for the landscape of the province of Westphalia on July 15, 1877 on the island of Mainau .

After originally only financing agricultural and forestry operations, WL Bank expanded its business in 1973 to include building loans for residential construction and commercial real estate financing. In 1987 the company was converted into a stock corporation and incorporated into the cooperative FinanzGruppe Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken.
