Franz Christoph Anton Count von Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen , partly also Hohenzollern-Haigerloch , (born January 16, 1699 in Haigerloch ; † November 23, 1767 in Cologne ) was canon of various cathedral chapters and Prime Minister of the Electorate of Cologne under Clemens August of Bavaria .

Life

He was the son of Count Franz Anton von Hohenzollern-Haigerloch and Maria Anna Eusebia von Königsegg-Aulendorf . One of his brothers was Ferdinand Leopold von Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen .

In 1717 he became a canon and in 1725 a cathedral chaplain in Cologne. From 1726 he was also canon in Strasbourg and Salzburg . Between 1748 and 1750 he was choir bishop in Cologne and then until 1763 vice dean. He also served from 1750 to 1763 and 1763 Domthesaurius provost . After the resignation of Hermann Werner von der Asseburg , he was appointed Prime Minister of the Electorate of Cologne by Clemens August von Bayern in 1756 . In addition, he was Colonel Court Master, President of the War Council, Privy Councilor, Governor of the Diocese of Strasbourg on this side of the Rhine and Chancellor of the University of Cologne . After his death he was buried in Cologne Cathedral . Despite his high offices, he remained, like his brother before, politically completely insignificant and completely without influence.
