Rita Falk (born May 30, 1964 in Oberammergau ) is a German author .

life and work

Rita Falk lived in her place of birth until she was eight and then moved with her parents to Munich for a year , then to Landshut , where she attended the humanistic grammar school for some time . The author lived in Munich with her second husband, the former police officer Robert Falk. Robert Falk died on July 2, 2020 at the age of 60. She has three grown children. Until her breakthrough as a bestselling author, she worked as an office clerk.

Falk became known for her " provincial thrillers " about the village police officer Franz Eberhofer, which played in the fictional town of Niederkaltenkirchen . In their eyes the location, the market town of Frontenhausen , comes closest to the fictional location. After three provincial crime volumes with a strong dialectal and colloquial character, she published Hannes, her first family novel, in 2012 . Since then, more books have appeared in both genres.

Her debut novel Winterkartoffelknödel (2010), the first volume in the Eberhofer series, moved up to 6th place on the Spiegel bestseller list (hardcover fiction) , as did Volume 2, Dampfnudelblues (2011) and Volume 3, Schweinskopf al dente (2011) in front. With the fifth volume in the series, Sauerkrautkoma (2013), Rita Falk made it to first place for the first time. The other volumes in the series also took first place on the Spiegel bestseller list (paperback fiction).

The roundabout north of the market town of Frontenhausen , which can be seen in the film adaptations of the Eberhofer crime novels, has officially been named Franz-Eberhofer-Kreisel since August 8, 2018 .
