Franz Ehrenhöfer

Franz Ehrenhöfer (born July 29, 1880 in Reinberg near Vorau , Styria , † April 17, 1939 in Grosseto ) was an Austrian sculptor , craftsman and painter .

Life

After completing an apprenticeship and attending the arts and crafts school from 1894 to 1899, Ehrenhöfer studied from 1900 to 1907 with Hans Bitterlich and Edmund von Hellmer at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . He then taught at the wood industry college in Villach until 1915 . Between 1916 and 1937 Ehrenhöfer taught at the Bolzano State Trade School before he spent the last years of his life at the Scuola Tecnica in Grosseto, where he also died.

Works

Ehrenhöfer created monuments and tombs as a sculptor. He was also active as a draftsman, painter and ceramist.

  • 4 stone reliefs ( soldiers 'prayer, soldiers' suffering, soldiers 'loyalty, soldiers' song ) from the former Kaiserjäger memorial, Bozen , 1917/18 (demolished 1926/27), seized in 1930 and transferred to the Bergisel in 1941
  • War Madonna ( nail figure ), Gries-Bozen, outer wall of the Muri-Gries Abbey (inauguration: June 29, 1917)
