Life

Franz Heinrich Ulrich studied from 1928 to 1932 Jura and entered after the bar exam in 1936 German bank one. In 1939 he was called up for military service and seriously wounded in the French campaign . From 1941 he worked again at Deutsche Bank as a personal employee of Hermann Josef Abs , who was then working for the international business.

After the end of the war, he learned precision mechanics and watchmaking in Hamburg from 1945 , before returning to banking in 1948 and becoming a branch director of the Rheinisch-Westfälische Bank, the successor to the forcibly decentralized Deutsche Bank in Wuppertal . In 1951 Ulrich became a member of the management of Norddeutsche Bank in Hamburg. In 1957 he became a board member of the reunited Deutsche Bank.

After Hermann Josef Abs left, Ulrich became spokesman for the board of directors of Deutsche Bank together with Karl Klasen in 1967 . When Klasen moved to the Deutsche Bundesbank in 1970 , Ulrich became the sole board spokesman of Deutsche Bank. He stayed that way until 1976. His successors as board spokesmen were Friedrich Wilhelm Christians and Wilfried Guth . After leaving as spokesman for the board, Ulrich became chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Bank. He stayed that way until July 1984.

From 1960 to 1974 Ulrich was also a board member of the Association of German Banks . At times he was also president of the German group of the International Chamber of Commerce and the International Monetary Conference. Ulrich was also the initiator of the German Society for Securities Savings (DWS).
