Christian Sewing

Christian Sewing (born April 24, 1970 in Bünde ) is a German bank manager . He has been a member of the Management Board of Deutsche Bank since January 1, 2015 and its Chairman since April 8, 2018 .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1989, Sewing completed dual vocational training as a banker at Deutsche Bank in Bielefeld , which he completed in 1991 with an IHK degree . He then studied business administration at the bank academy branches in Bielefeld and Hamburg.

From 2005 to 2007 Sewing was a member of the board of the Deutsche Genossenschafts-Hypothekenbank .

From June 2013 to May 2015 he headed the Deutsche Bank Group Audit . At the beginning of 2015, he was transferred to the legal department, which is the first time he was appointed to the board. Before that, he held several management positions in the area of risk management, in addition to Frankfurt also in Singapore , Toronto , Tokyo and London . From 2012 to 2013 he was Deputy Risk Manager and Head of Risk Management and Risk Strategy. Previously, from 2010 to 2012, he was Head of Loan Processing at the bank.

On April 8, 2018, he succeeded John Cryan as CEO of Deutsche Bank. Previously, he was responsible for the private and business banking division.

A week after his appointment as head of Deutsche Bank, Sewing was elected to the board of directors and the executive committee of the Association of German Banks . There, too, he succeeded Cryan.

Christian Sewing is a hobby tennis player, married and has four children. He lives with his family in Osnabrück .
