Franz Ignatz von Pinto

Franz Ignatz von Pinto (* 1725 in Piedmont ; † December 18, 1788 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian major general , engineer and heir of Mettkau , Liebenau and Gallenau . The Prussian recognition of the count's status took place in 1770.

He comes from Piedmont and was recruited as a military engineer for the Prussian army (probably on Voltaire's recommendation ). Even his father Lorenzo Bernardino de Pinto , Comte Barri di Massone (1704–1788) was a military engineer and was jointly responsible for the construction of the fortresses Demonte , Exilles and Tortona .

Military career

On May 18, 1764, he joined King Friedrich II's entourage as a captain . On July 28, 1765, he became major and adjutant. On July 24, 1767 he received the order from the king to create new plans for the fortresses Silberberg and Glatz . A little later, on March 18, 1768, he was there again because of the construction of the fortress in Silesia . On November 1, 1773, he represented the king at the inauguration of the new Catholic Church in Berlin. On June 22, 1775 he rose to lieutenant colonel in the king's suite and became Marechal des logis . On June 9, 1778, he was placed on field budget and on June 25, 1778, he was sent to Silberberg to represent the local commander. But then he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On March 9, 1779, he was sent to Silberberg to restore his ailing health. On June 21, 1779 he was promoted to colonel. In 1780 the king sent him to Italy to recruit soldiers . He fell ill on the journey and came to Turin, where the king sent him wishes for wellbeing on May 29, 1781. On March 11, 1783, he received the Silesian Incolate for his fiefdoms Liebenau, Münsterberg and Gallenau districts, Frankenstein district , which he received from the king. On November 4, 1786 he was also major general (patent from March 5, 1786) with a salary of 3000 thalers a year. He died in Potsdam on December 28, 1788.

Originally he planned to marry the daughter of the mayor of Silberberg Rahm , but the plans were prevented by the king. Instead, he married Wilhelmine Katharina von Tarrach (* March 6, 1757, † November 3, 1833). She was the daughter of the Secret Finance Council Friedrich Wilhelm von Tarrach (1718–1782). The couple had several children:

After the general's death, General Ernst von Rüchel was appointed as guardian for the children. After the death of her husband, the widow marries General Hans Rudolf von Bischoffwerder .
