Franz Künzer (administrative lawyer)

Franz Eduard Künzer (born April 16, 1864 in Marienwerder , West Prussia , † February 12, 1947 in Potsdam ) was a German administrative lawyer .

Life

His parents were the high school professor Hugo Joseph Eduard Künzer (1829–1888) and his wife Mathilde geb. Marquardt . Franz Künzer was born with Clara Mitzlaff married. She gave him two sons and two daughters.

Franz Künzer attended high school in Strasburg and Marienwerder. Then studied law at the Silesian Friedrich Wilhelms University in Breslau , the Kaiser Wilhelms University of Strasbourg and the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin . During his studies in 1881 he became a member of the Germania Strasbourg fraternity . From 1884 to 1888 he was a trainee lawyer in Tiegenhof , Danzig and Marienwerder. In 1889/90 he worked as a court assessor in Marienwerder. As an unskilled worker he came to the Danzig magistrate in 1890, then to the state director of the province of Saxony in Merseburg . From 1892 to 1913 Künzer was the second mayor of Poznan . From 1894 he was a board member and from 1895 a committee member of the German Savings Banks Association of the Province of Poznan . Since 1897 he sat on the main committee of the German Association for Poor Care and Charity .

Künzer was chairman of the Provincial Association of the National Liberal Party of the Province of Poznan and from 1912 to 1917 a member of the Central Committee of the National Liberals. From 1913 to 1918 Künzer represented the constituency 2 Posen for the National Liberals in the Prussian House of Representatives .

When the province of Poznan had largely fallen to the Second Polish Republic through the Peace Treaty of Versailles , Künzer was managing director of the German Savings Banks Association from 1920 to 1924. He sat on the Provisional Reich Economic Council .
