Franz Kaindl (painter)

Franz Kaindl (* 1932 in Brand-Laaben ) is an Austrian painter , graphic artist and mosaic artist .

Life

Franz Kaindl was born in the Stollberg district of the Brand-Laaben community. In 1950 he graduated from high school in Waidhofen an der Thaya . From 1950 to 1957 he studied painting at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts with Franz Elsner , Josef Dobrowsky , Herbert Boeckl , Sergius Pauser , Franz Santifaller and Robert Eigenberger , as well as sculpture with Franz Santifaller .

Franz Kaindl has lived in Gaweinstal in the Weinviertel since 1957 . There he shaped the cultural history of the place as a young artist by painting numerous pictures with motifs of the place and its surroundings. In addition, he played a key role in the development of the Gaweinstal brass band and was its conductor until 1978. Furthermore, from 1958 to 2007 he directed the Gaweinstal church choir.

In 1972 he was elected President of the Regional Association of Lower Austrian Art Associations. He represented the interests of the artists vis-à-vis the federal and state governments and curated collective exhibitions. Until 1995 he founded and directed the Lower Austrian Documentation Center for Modern Art , which was built in 1978 during the revitalization of the Karmeliterhof in St. Pölten . With decades of systematic collection of biographical data on Austrian artists of the 20th century, the Documentation Center has an archive with around 4,000 artist biographies.
