Franz Klein (born April 27, 1800 in Wiesenberg in Moravia; † August 29, 1855 in Seibersdorf in Austria-Silesia ) is a member of the old Austrian entrepreneurial family Klein .

Franz was married to Franziska Hillebrand (1803-1851) from Brno since 1825.

Klein, the son of Johann Friedrich Klein and Maria Elisabeth Hamp, learned the gardening trade in Eisgrub . With his brothers, who followed him, he built the irrigation systems in the park of Prince Liechtenstein's castle .

Together with his brothers, he soon became self-employed and carried out road and water works. In 1815 they got the first public contract to build a dam road between Alt-Hrisch and Ungarisch-Hradisch . Two years later, the brothers were already employing thousands of people in river regulation.

The company, which soon expanded its activities to all branches of construction, carried out electricity regulation as well as railway construction.

In 1844 the brothers acquired the Zöptau rule and with it the old Zöptau ironworks . Owning these works enabled the company to manufacture the steel required for the buildings themselves, and thus more cheaply and quickly.

Franz Klein was in charge of these companies until his death. He is considered socially committed and he set up spinning schools, for example.

Together with his son Franz, two of the brothers continued the tradition as entrepreneurs after his death.

His siblings were Josef Engelbert, Engelbert, Libor, Albert (Klein von Wisenberg), Hubert.
