Franz Kohout

Franz Kohout (born March 27, 1953 in Niederaichbach ) is a German political scientist .

Life

From 1959 to 1965 he attended the elementary school in Niederaichbach and from 1965 to 1969, the junior high school in Dingolfing with completion of middle maturity . From 1969 to 1974 he completed an apprenticeship in the senior service of the Bavarian Finance Administration (University of Applied Sciences) with the qualification as a tax inspector. From 1974 to 1975 he was a tax inspector in Munich . From 1975 to 1976 he did a voluntary social service as a neighborhood worker in the United States. From 1977 to 1980 he was tax inspector in Ebersberg and Munich. From 1979 to 1982 he prepared for the “ gifted high school diploma ” in Bavaria. From 1979 to 1984 he studied political science at the Munich School of Politics and graduated with the diploma examination for Dipl.sc.pol. from. From 1982 to 1988 he studied law at the University of Munich , which he completed with the first state examination in law. From 1989 to 1995 he completed a doctoral degree in political science, law and economics to obtain a Dr. rer. pole. at the University of Munich. From 1988 to 2001 he was a research assistant or research assistant at the Geschwister-Scholl-Institute for Political Science at the University of Munich. From 1999 to 2000 he was visiting professor and researcher at the H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University . After completing his habilitation in political science at the Social Science Faculty of the University of Munich on June 20, 2001, he became a private lecturer there . As a professor of political science, he teaches at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich with a special focus on domestic politics and comparative government theory .

His main research interests are political systems in comparison, the political system of the Federal Republic of Germany and political fields: environmental policy, constitutional policy and constitutional law, international politics.
