Franz Linnig

Franz Linnig (born September 24, 1832 in Aegidienberg - Himberg ; † August 7, 1912 in Koblenz - Pfaffendorf ) was a German provincial school councilor and textbook author.

Life

After attending the elementary school in Aegidienberg ( Siebengebirge ), Franz Linnig took part in the lessons of the Catholic vicar there for two years and in autumn 1848 switched to the grammar school in Bad Münstereifel , where he graduated from high school in autumn 1854. He then completed a degree at the University of Bonn , initially from 1854 to 1856 in Catholic theology , then later philology with Karl Simrock . In 1861 he passed the state teaching examination there. After his probationary year at the Marzellengymnasium in Cologne , he was acting teacher at the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Trier until he got his permanent position at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Cologne in 1869. In 1873 Linnig was then appointed as a provisional and in 1874 full-time government school councilor in Cologne and finally in 1876 as a provincial school councilor and appointed to Koblenz, where he was authorized to issue instructions for the Catholic teachers' seminars and high schools in the entire then- Rhine province .

During his time in Trier, Linnig published his first book Walther von Aquitanien , a heroic poem in 12 songs. This was followed by several school books - the most widespread was his German reading book in two parts. a. had been introduced in the schools in the Cologne district .
