Franz Thedieck (lawyer)

Franz Thedieck (born April 5, 1947 in Lutherstadt Wittenberg ; † March 19, 2017 in Karlsruhe ) was a German legal scholar .

Life

Franz Thedieck studied law and social sciences at the University of Münster , where he received his doctorate in 1977. From 1980 to 1990 and from 1999 to 2012 Thedieck was Professor of Constitutional Law, General Administrative Law and Public Law at the Kehl University of Applied Sciences and a lecturer at the University of Strasbourg .

Between his two life phases as a professor, Thedieck was GTZ government advisor in Latin America for reforms on decentralization and regionalization from 1990 to 1994 and head of the central office for public administration of the Foundation for International Development in Berlin from 1994 to 1999 .

Since his retirement, Thedieck lived in Karlsruhe and since then has headed the Steinbeis International Public Management advisory center.

effect

Thedieck was the first dean of the master's program in European administrative management, founded in 2001 . From 2007 to 2012 he was the Kehl University's representative for ethics and sustainable development. In addition to his teaching activities, Thedieck was, among other things, founding chairman of the Baden-Württemberg HLB regional association and a member of the board of trustees of Mehr Demokratie .
