Franz von Alten

Franz Carl Victor von Alten (born October 21, 1812 in Deensen near Stadtoldendorf , † March 24, 1889 ) was an officer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Alten first attended school in Holzminden and then the Knight Academy in Lüneburg . As a cadet, he joined the royal Hanoverian 1st Jäger Battalion in Göttingen. Later he was an officer in the 2nd Einbeck Jäger Battalion and a brigade and division adjutant. He received a hunter company in the 1st Jäger Battalion, which was located in Goslar . As a major, he was in command of the 1st Battalion of the 6th Infantry Regiment. In 1865 he became commander of the Royal Hanoverian Guard Regiment, whose tradition expired with the annexation of Hanover by Prussia in 1866. Alten refused to enter Prussian service, took his leave as a 53-year-old lieutenant colonel and since then has lived as a pensioner in Hanover .

From 1884 to 1887 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of the Province of Hanover 13 ( Goslar , Zellerfeld , Ilfeld ) and the German-Hanover Party .
