Franz von Raimann

Franz Edler von Raimann , from 1840 Ritter von Raimann , (born January 22, 1831 in Vienna , † February 7, 1899 in Brescia ) was an Austrian judge and numismatist .

Life

Raimann was the son of the imperial personal physician Johann Nepomuk Ritter von Raimann . He received his education largely at home and passed the school leaving examination at the Schottengymnasium . He then studied from 1851 at the University of Vienna Law . He was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . In 1855 he entered the court service. He was a trainee lawyer in Korneuburg , Hernals and Vienna, then a lawyer at the Vienna Commercial Court .

Raimann came to the St. Pölten Regional Court in 1871 as Council Secretary , became Regional Court Counselor at the Commercial Court in Vienna in 1873, Higher Regional Court Counselor at the Higher Regional Court in Vienna in 1885 and finally in 1893 Hofrat at the Supreme Court before he retired in 1898 . In addition, from 1889 he was a member of the judicial state examination commission, also a member of the ministerial commission for agricultural operations and correspondent of the central commission for the research and preservation of art and historical monuments.

Raimann was also active as a numismatist in Vienna. In 1870 he was one of the founding members of the Austrian Numismatic Society . From 1874 to 1886 and from 1888 until his death he was a board member of the company.

Raimann was honored with the Knight's Cross of the Imperial Leopold Order in 1898 . In addition, the Austrian Numismatic Society had a silver coin minted on his death, with his head on the obverse and the inscription FRANZ RITTER VON RAIMANN * 22 JAN 1831 † 7 FEB. 1899 and on the back, YOUR DESERVED MEMBERS, THE NUMISMATIC SOCIETY IN VIENNA .
