Franz von Stengel (Chief Bailiff)

Franz Freiherr von Stengel (born June 4, 1811 in Mannheim ; † September 7, 1867 in Wertheim ) was a German administrative officer.

Life

Franz von Stengel, son of Oberhof Judge Joseph Gabriel von Stengel , studied after attending the Lyceum in Mannheim and Munich from 1830 to 1834 law at the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg and the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich . In 1831 he became a member of the Corps Suevia Heidelberg . On November 19, 1831, he was one of the founders of the Corps Palatia II in Heidelberg . There, the Baden revolutionaries Friedrich Hecker and Franz Joseph Reich were among his coaetans. In 1837 he passed the first service examination. In 1842 he became assessor at the Oberamt Durlach , in 1847 he moved to the Landamt Karlsruhe , where he was appointed bailiff in 1848 . In 1850 he became the official board of the district office Wertheim called and 1854 Bailiff promoted. From 1866 until his death in 1867 he was city director of Wertheim.
